Song 1-Nation of Sheep
Intro has a nice and strong bassline
It’s a bit slow to begin with no vocal until about 2 mins into the actual song
The vocals give me Depeche Mode and Bauhaus vibes
The little scream from the backup singer adds more depth which I like
Overall I really like this song especially the full bass riff throughout the song the vocals coming in later adds a nice depth to the song and really bring out the goth rock vibe.
Song 2-Ruled by Wolves
The start is a lot faster with a gravelly guitar riff
It has the same deep bass line as the last song
The song sounds very busy with a lot going on with 2 guitars bass and vocals it’s much more intense than the last song
The vocal fade out about halfway through the song is very cool and adds another level to the song as the music also slows at the same time
The use of sound effects makes the song even more interesting
The way the band manage to synchronise together even though its improv
Overall review- this song was a lot faster to begin with so it really hooks you in it was much more intense than the last song and the inclusion of the laser sound effects really took me by surprise in a good way as it added something unique to the song. This song had a lot more levels with the addition of the vocal fadeout.
Song 3-Owned by The Pigs
This intro is quite bass heavy and the guitar riff has a lot of glides. The use of distortion is very well utilised. The vocals are once again very gravelly with the backup doing some screamo adding levels to the song. The screamo in the background is very well done. This song is very layered and I love it. The three vocal parts throughout the song are different but slot in perfectly. Overall review- this song is by far my favourite as it has many many layers to it and I loved the screamo. This song by far is the most metal-adjacent song but is still much closer to goth rock music.
Song 4- You Became a Lion
This intro was guitar heavy then the scream kicked in. This is by far the best demonstration of metal on this album. I was not expecting it but it was amazing. The screamo vocals add so much depth and are definitely the focal point of the song. The guitar and bass parts in the background really help highlight the screamo and add layers to the song the repeating slide in the guitar riff is very cool. This is the most intense song. Overall review- this song shows off the absolute raw talent that the vocalist has and adds a much-needed metal kick to the album this song like all the others has a lot of layers with the bass and the guitar in the background and the screamo over the top. I love how the screamo came out of pretty much nowhere and actually shocked me.
Uncut jam session-
This part is very unique as I’ve never actually heard a band just jamming let alone on one of their albums. It’s interesting as you get to listen to the process of how these 4 amazing songs came into being. Overall review- not really my thing but it adds a uniqueness to the album
Overall album review- all the songs in the album work perfectly together and I love how it kind of ramps up in intensity with the progression of the songs. I really like this album and I am looking forward to its official release and to see where this band goes in the future.
