Kate McCabe

Bio

KATE MCCABE is a 26-year-old Glasgow-based singer-songwriter. She has been writing music for as long as she can remember, releasing her first EP FAULT at age 15, and marking her transition to adulthood with the more mature WOMAN EP in 2018. Throughout these early years, she shared live lineups with many local artists, played HangarFest and PandoraFest and led songwriter circles and teaching sessions.

Kate’s edgier alt-pop style broke through with the release of I AM HER (The Devil is Desire) in 2021 – enjoying airplay on BBC Radio Scotland’s Roddy Hart Show and garnering a semi-final place in the International Songwriting Competition 2022. Singles ODE TO A TOWN – nominated in the Best Folk category at the Online Radio Awards in 2021 – and TO DO WI’ THE GUY followed quickly after and established Kate as an artist with her own eclectic sound and style.

Kate has been writing prolifically since; her way of processing what life has thrown at her. So, with loads of new music on the way, things are about to get interesting. Kate continues to gig regularly in her hometown of Glasgow at the likes of Broadcast, The Old Hairdressers, Room 2, Audio, The Flying Duck and Nice ’n’ Sleazy, and has graced stages at London’s The Water Rats and Rome’s The Yellow Square.

Kate’s latest single THAT’S WHERE I’LL BE and its beautiful B-side GO ON AND LIVE capture much of the sadness and grief Kate has endured in recent years but are among the catchiest of her melodies so far.
