JYNX is the reaction when you’re so in sync with someone that you’ve just said the same thing… JYNX is also the musical union of Los Angeles art freaks, Harlow Black and Kii Arens. These two wandering kindred spirits united under the spell of a Cherie Currie gig at The Viper Room and aligned by way of a mutual appreciation for everything from eighties new wave to German Expressionistic films a la’ “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari”.
Minnesota-born Kii’s background, encompasses creating art and music videos for everyone from Dolly Parton and DEVO to Radiohead and The Hollywood Bowl, while Harlow began as a published poet and classically trained pianist in her native North Carolina and now operates as an actress and screenwriter by trade as well as fronting her other moniker “Beck Black”.
After a show-stopping SXSW appearance, they landed a deal with “We Are Hear”, the record label/publishing company founded by the legendary Linda Perry & Kerry Brown.
On October 1st 2018, the single “I Keep The Lights On” properly introduced JYNX to the “LA scene” on Sunset Blvd during their sold-out Hollywood debut at the Roxy Theater. The song along with “Don’t Push The Button” were included in the Netflix film, “Dumplin”.
“When you hear us, I hope you feel pure joy,” concludes Harlow. Kii leaves off, “We’re like the court jesters of life. People need relief in this climate. We’re here to provide that.
