When Danny Watts started Downtown Patriots, this multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and producer wanted a sound that captured his love of grunge but with a modern twist of energy.
“One of the first records I ever bought was 1984 by @VanHalen, and always loved the synth sound in “Jump”, so I wanted to Introduce 80s style synths into my new material, whilst retaining a grungey guitar sound, in a similar way to how The Killers manage to do.
Adding those synths has lifted the energy of the latest music to something that I hadn’t considered previously.
I’m a rock man at heart heavily influenced by 90s grunge artists such as PearlJam and Chris Cornell but have a passion and love for all styles of music. I wanted the sound of Downtown Patriots to transcend across multiple genres to reach a wider range of music lovers.” says Watts
