Formerly the frontman of lauded indie-rock outfit The Departure, singer-songwriter Maddox Jones made his solo debut in 2020 with Headspace EP. Receiving praise from the likes of SPIN, American Songwriter, BBC, Record Of The Day and iHeart Radio the EP is a personal journey through hedonism, love, loss and the pain of growing up, all echoed by Maddox’s honest vocals and vulnerable poeticism.
After experimenting successfully with a synth-led electronic sound on his debut, Jones is proving his versatility and range by moving into new sonic territory with his latest tracks. His new single, Can’t Wait for the Summer is a glorious guitar-driven pop record, built on incredibly catchy melodies and an anthemic, radio-ready chorus. A breezy and bittersweet ode to simpler times, “Can’t-Wait for the Summer” captures in song our collective desire to escape the trials and tribulations of the past year and enjoy carefree summer days once again.
